On Saturday, September 14, 2019 the legal team at Luschas, Naparsteck & Crane, LLP participated in the 2019 Walk to End Alzheimer’s event at the local Bloomsburg YMCA to support Alzheimer’s awareness in our community. Several families, friends, and even local nursing facilities came together to support the cause forming over 35 teams, having over 300 participants and raising over $30,000.00 to help find a cure for this disease.

Alzheimer’s disease is an epidemic with more than 5 million Americans living with the disease. Almost two-thirds of Americans with Alzheimer’s disease are women. This disease is a type of dementia that is irreversible and causes problems with memory, thinking, behavior and, eventually, the ability to carry out the simplest tasks. Alzheimer’s is the most common cause of dementia and accounts for 60% to 80% of dementia cases.

While it’s important for everyone to plan for the future, legal plans are especially vital for a person diagnosed with dementia. The sooner these plans are put into place, the more likely it is that the person living with dementia will be able to participate in the process. Legal plans can include preparing for long-term care and health needs, making arrangements for finances and property, and appointing others to make decisions on behalf of the person with dementia. Our Elder Law Attorneys at Luschas, Naparsteck & Crane, LLP can help you and your family navigate through the emotional, financial, and legal impact of a dementia diagnosis.
